Come già detto in altri thread, i 1.4 TSI e 1.6 TDI saranno rimpiazzati il prossimo anno da una nuova famiglia di motori 1.5 benzina e diesel modulari (che darà vita ai nuovi 2.0 litri).
Voci non confermate, danno per certo la variante 1.5 TDI biturbo per sostituire il 2.0 TDI 150CV.

Volkswagen has announced a new family of turbocharged 1.5-liter engines is being prepared for a 2017 launch.Speaking at the Detroit Auto Show, VW brand CEO Herbert Diess revealed plans to introduce 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines in the upcoming Golf VII facelift. While the car will be introduced towards the end of the year, the motors won’t be available from day one as VW says these two will be offered starting 2017.
The turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine will serve as a direct successor of the current 1.4 TSI and is going to come with cylinder deactivation technology, as well as direct-injection and a new turbocharger. As for the 1.5-liter diesel, it’s going to replace the familiar 1.6 TDI.
VW mentions production costs will be higher compared to the current units, but the new ones will be lighter and more frugal. The plan is to sell both engines in different states of tune and on a variety of models from the Volkswagen Group, including Audi, SEAT, and Skoda.
These won’t be all-new engines as Herbert Diess explains the 1.5-liter units will be evolutions of the current 1.4 TSI and 1.6 TDI powering a wide variety of small and compact VAG cars.
